Why weight training is good for christian kids

The need for weight training

He teaches my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms. Psalm 18:34

I’m writing this post in three parts, its something that I have a passion for as I have 4 of my own, its for the fitness and wellbeing of young Christian boys. Don’t take me comments to heart now: What is happening to our young christian boys, they’re fat, lazy, undisciplined, physically weak, emotionally weak, fearful, gender insecure, emotionally insecure, depressed, etc. — all the things David was not, all the things Samson was not, and what Jesus is not.

Both inactive boys and girls were more likely than active peers to have social and attention problems.

Im not saying all boys are like this, but look around, read some articles, rates of overweight and obesity are continuing to rise in Australia.

Just a note: Girls can also benefit greatly from weight training.

Who is your instructor?

There is hope though , when David escaped to the cave of Adullan God was his only friend, but then all those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.  So it was God leading David and David leading the men, these were not warriors or even potential warriors, they were the outcasts, weak, the useless, but they were to become Gods army, famous and admired thousands of years later. In a short time these outcasts became warriors, read 1 Samuel 22 , the bible doesn’t really say how they did it, or what they did to become superheroes, but there are some hints to how it came about – God trained them!!!

Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. Psalm 144

“He trains my hands for battle, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 36“You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your help makes me great. 2 Samuel 22

So if you are a young Christian or an old Christian then its time to become Gods warrior! This is something that you will have to commit to for the rest of your life, it will become your anchor and stronghold.

Warning! Training starts below the line, once you’ve crossed the line there is no turning back, the old timid you is left behind.

Part 1. Begin weight training.
