Hydration for the spirit

We’ve been posting lately about hydration for sports performance, and how it is essential to peak performance and health. But today I will like to focus on hydration for the spirit for peak performance with regards to your spiritual walk in this life. Just like staying hydrated during a workout or sporting event is important, staying spiritually hydrated is even more important for your Christian walk.

How to hydrate your spirit.

Today, throw out your to-do-list and replace it with one box to tick: Pray and read your bible. This will hydrate your soul, and energise you for the week ahead, whether it be desert, storm or along quite waters. Firstly, go somewhere alone, without distractions. Secondly pray to God who hears you and read your bible. Lastly, pray some more, and read your bible some more. This is the cycle of Spiritual hydration, similar to the cycle of physical hydration.

1. Gods word will hydrate you. Read the Word.

Psalm 1

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

2. Gods presence, in prayer, will hydrate you.

Psalm 42:2

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Just a note, a warning: Friends will either hydrate or dehydrate your spirit. Don’t avoid people that dehydrate you entirely, they need you for hydration. Also make sure you spend time with people that will hydrate you, who are believers and who are full of Life and this Life “rubs” off onto you.

Jesus is your hydration for he said: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.
