Hanging a punching bag up in your home gym can become a precursor to intensity and progress, but unfortunately in most home gyms it becomes something so useless that it just collects dust. With the right knowledge and instruction it will become your best friend for pre, during and post workout.
Light punching and kicking your punching bag is the ultimate way to warm up. It gets your heart pumping and works similarly to dynamic stretching, in stretching your muscles. Remember to stay light on your toes, or in other words your feet should be moving, dancing if you like.
Not only does it prepare your body for action, it also prepares you phsycology for a heavy weight workout. There is an aggression that builds up because of the kicking and punching, an aggression that can last for your entire workout.
Focused aggression enhances the ability to train intense
Once my weight is loaded and I’m ready to break my ten repition record I like to first walk over to my friend the punching bag and give him a few good knocks, them I’m ready or the record.
Do you want to burn some unwanted fat? Your most productive fat burning session can be right after a weight workout. Your muscles will be properly warmed up so go as hard as you can, kicking and punching. I like to go hard for 30 second intervals.
